Home Owner

Today is our last day as not being a home owner! Tomorrow, Friday the 16th, we are closing on our first house! My family is coming down to help paint a bunch of rooms in the house and get everything ready then the next week we're moving in! Going to be a crazy, hectic, chaotic next 2 weeks. Pictures will be posted of the new place :)

Personal Baby Chef

One of the things I committed myself to was making my own baby food. Having a single baby is not too bad on the wallet. Having two babies was down right expensive! One jar of baby food, 2 ounces, costs an average of 44 cents. That doesn't sound like a lot until you add up about 6 ounces of food that a single baby eats in a day. Multiply that by two to compensate for twins and you have about $3 a day in jarred food. $21 a week. $84 a month. Talk about RE-diculous!

The husby and I bought a food processor to puree our own baby food. We took many trips to the local Raleigh Farmer's Market downtown to buy fresh fruits and vegetables last year. What we couldn't get at the market we got from the grocery store. I usually made one fruit and one veggie at a time. Lately, I've been mixing up fruits and vegetables for something different. Making your own baby food is SO easy. I try to buy all fresh fruits/veggies but if I can't, I buy them frozen. All you do is boil the fruit/veggie so that it can be pureed easily. You can change the consistency by adding water to thin it or rice cereal to thicken it. Once pureed, just simply pour into ice cube trays, cover with press and seal and freeze overnight. The next day, take out the trays, label a quart freezer bag with the date and contents and place the frozen cubes in the bag and throw it back in the freezer! In the mornings, I get out the twins bowls and place the cubes in the bowls so that their food can thaw and be ready in time for supper!

Here are some pictures of food I've made for the girls.

Easter Sunday

Yesterday was Easter 2010, our first Easter as a family of 4, the twins' first Easter, etc. While going throughout the day, I tried to keep the reason for Easter in the back of my mind [the front is being taken up by the twins]. Jesus died for US, and He rose again.

We decided to take the girls to the park so that they could go play on the swings. This was their first trip to the park and their first time swinging! Tristan loved swinging and was really good at flapping her arms and flailing her legs to keep swinging. She loved it and would laugh. Trinnittie, on the other hand, enjoyed just sitting in the swing and watching other kids play at the park.

Tristan & Mommy

Enjoying the beautiful 80 degree sunny weather, we took the opportunity to get pictures outside of the girls with some pretty flowers.

Trinnittie & Tristan

This was the girls' first time sitting in the grass. Trinn seemed scared/apprehensive about it while Tristan seemed to be confused. The sun was beating down on us so we only were out in the sun for a few minutes so as not to get sunburnt!

I hope to be able to take the girls to the park by myself over the summer. I want to become more independent with taking them out. One day, it will be less work and actually fun to go out on trips. I see many outings to the park and playing outside in our future.
